Well it was new last year, and I didn’t post the change in location. Due to the owners of our previous headquarters at “The Ice cream parlour”, changing the building back to holiday accommodation, we have moved 150 metres further South to the Niue Back Packers. Ira and Brian are our hosts there and look after all of our cruising friends when they check in. We have a free wi-fi set up so bring your laptops in and check back with the folks at home. The connection speed is not “blistering fast” but is the speed all who live here on Niue have grown used to and “learned to love.” Ira has an extensive library added to by cruisers on the swap a book policy, so there are books to be found in different languages. Our club merchandise is also available for purchase. Payment of $15NZ per night for moorings is collected by Ira on behalf of the NYC. Although our HQ is slightly further from the wharf, than our previous base was, you pass the Police station where Immigration requirements are completed. The main shopping centre, grocery supply outlets, bank, post office ,restaurants and a Bar are close by. Patrick and Anyot off sv”Cofiance” are our first visitors for the season, seen below wearing their NYC caps, having also become our first members for the year to join as actual visitors. Welcome and “Thank you !”

If you are one of the 40 000 readers of “Latitude 38″ you will have already seen this advertisement in the April issue and are checking our website out for further information. “Welcome and thank you for your interest!” The Niue Yacht Club is unique in many ways, considering our isolation, deep in the South Pacific. Perhaps our major point of difference from most other yacht clubs is an ability to access arrival information for Niue, either before you set sail, or during passage by using Sailmail or an equivalent. (see the advertisement). We are indebted to Captain Steve who visited in 2008 and our Webmaster in North America for setting this service up. If you need any specific information and/or help please use the “Contact NYC” on www.nyc.nu to set up a Help ticket. Fair Winds until we meet on our wharf sometime in the future.
